Hello fellow bike-lovers,
I am happily writing you from Davis this week, and look forward to seeing you all in person at any of the amazing events this week and the rest of the summer. Read on for news of bike fixery, cooperative housing, and a bit of tragedy.
Open Shop Hours Wednesday, Thursday 4-8 p.m. and Saturday 12-6 p.m. at Bike Forth: Open shop hours. Come by to help us stay organized, strip bikes, organize parts, fix bikes, etc.
Wanna help with some construction? Stay after the Wednesday shift to help out hanging racks from the ceiling and helping with shop organization too!
Support Cooperative Housing! Tuesday 6 p.m. at J St Coop (J & 3rd) and 7:15 p.m. at City Council Chambers (Russell & D): Support the Solar Community Housing Association in their efforts to get a new house going at 3rd and J (across the street from the J Street House). The Solar Community Housing Association (SCHA, Sunwise and J St co-ops) is helping the Bike Collective with non-profit status and co-signed the lease for the Bike Forth shop. Now, SCHA needs help from the Bike Collective!
The City of Davis might give SCHA over $800,000 worth of real estate to start another co-op house! But we are in second place behind Habitat for Humanity, we need your support:
1. Show up to the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 28th for Village Bakery Pizza @ J Street Co-op! (SE Corner of 3rd & J st) from 6-7 p.m. (before the Council Meeting) Council Meeting at 7:15pmThis is the easiest thing to do. You can speak if you want, but just raising your hand when we ask is perfect.
2. If you feel really motivated, you can contact City Councilmembers directly. Tell them Davis needs more co-ops like Sunwise and J St.

We Got Ripped Off
Now, the tragic. We had a break-in last week, and lost $3,500 worth of tools and such, including 2 blue Park bike stands, black toolbox with tools including socket set, chain tools, spoke nipple drivers, allen wrenches, socket wrench set, a computer and black flat-screen monitor, red toolbox with pipe wrench, socket set, box wrench set, cresent wrench, hacksaw, dental pick set, a blue toolbox (plastic)with a Park tool set in it, truing stand, and an angle grinder. If you have ANY leads or ideas of how we might get some of this stuff back, stop by and let us know or email us. We'll also be looking to replace all that was lost, and welcome donations toward that effort.
Pedal on, Spokemistress Sarah
